Officers from Weymouth and Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team seize van following suspicious activity

Officers from the Weymouth and Portland Neighbourhood Team spotted a silver Ford Transit van driving towards Weymouth this afternoon along Portland Beach Road.

The vehicle has been of interest to Dorset police for some time.

When officers attempted to engage with the driver, he was not keen to speak with them and quickly turned off the main road. Following further enquiries and area searches, officers located the van abandoned a short time later in Dumbarton Road.

The vehicle was subsequently seized under the Road Traffic Act, as officers suspected that several driving offences may have been committed.

We are now appealing for information. If anyone saw a male and a female leaving the Dumbarton Road area at around 15:10hrs Thursday 19th February, appearing to be in a hurry, or if you have any relevant CCTV or doorbell footage, please contact Dorset Police quoting incident number **55260024752**.
