Outrage as Weymouth Man Avoids Prison After Creating Hundreds of Indecent Images
A 21-year-old man from Weymouth has sparked outrage after dodging jail despite creating and sharing hundreds of the most serious indecent images of children.
Coby Roper, of Canberra Crescent in Littlemoor, admitted six offences involving the making and distribution of sickening pseudo-images.
The charges included three counts of making indecent images across categories A, B and C — along with three counts of distributing them, including two category A offences, the most serious level.
Category A images are considered the most extreme form of abuse material.
The court heard Roper created a shocking 413 category A images, as well as 571 category B and 895 category C images. He also shared the material online with other like-minded users.
Despite the scale of the offences, at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, March 20, he was handed a two-year prison sentence suspended for two years — meaning he will avoid jail unless he commits further crimes.
Instead of immediate custody, he was ordered to complete 10 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and 200 hours of unpaid work.
Roper has also been hit with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 10 years and will be placed on the sex offenders’ register.
