Portland woman jailed after glass attack on two women in Weymouth nightclub

A Portland woman has been jailed for almost five years after carrying out a violent glass attack on two women inside a Weymouth nightclub.

Jade Hill, 21, of Portland, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday 30 June 2026 to a total of four years and 10 months’ imprisonment following a detailed investigation by detectives from Dorset County CID.

The investigation began after Dorset Police received a report that two women had been assaulted during the early hours of Saturday 12 October 2024 at The Closet in Maiden Street, Weymouth.

It was reported that Hill began shouting abuse at one of the victims before walking towards her and throwing the contents of a wine glass over her. She then struck the woman in the face with the empty glass, causing lacerations to her face.

When the victim’s friend attempted to intervene, Hill struck her in the face while still holding the stem of the broken glass. The second victim also sustained cuts to her face during the assault.

Police officers who attended the incident arrested Hill at the scene.

Following enquiries by detectives, Hill was charged and later found guilty at trial of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, having previously pleaded guilty to a separate charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Detective praises victims and witnesses

Detective Constable Holly Hetherington, of Dorset County CID, said:

“This was a violent and unprovoked attack using a glass, which caused the victims nasty injuries.

“Officers responded quickly to arrest the defendant and we have worked to compile evidence to hold her to account for her offending.

“I want to thank the victims and witnesses who gave evidence at trial and helped to bring Hill to justice.”
