One person assisted from vehicle following two-car collision in Weymouth

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Weymouth on Friday afternoon after a Mercedes E350 and a BMW were involved in a crash on Rylands Lane.

Firefighters from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at 4.37pm on Friday 3 July, with crews from Weymouth and Dorchester attending the scene alongside the ambulance service.

According to the fire service, one casualty was assisted from their vehicle before being handed into the care of paramedics.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

“We were called at 4.37pm today (3 July) to Rylands Lane, Weymouth, to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision. Two crews from Weymouth and Dorchester attended. One casualty was assisted from their vehicle and left in the care of the ambulance service. Our stop came in at 5.09pm.”

A local resident who witnessed the aftermath of the collision told Tide News that the BMW had stopped to allow the Mercedes E350 through, but alleged that the Mercedes driver “just didn’t see the stationary BMW” before the collision occurred.

The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been officially confirmed, and the account provided by the resident has not been independently verified.

The extent of the casualty’s injuries has not been disclosed.

Motorists experienced disruption in the area while emergency services dealt with the incident and ensured the vehicles were made safe.
