BREAKING: Fire crews tackling blaze near SEA LIFE Centre in Weymouth

Emergency services are currently responding to a fire close to the SEA LIFE Centre and Weymouth Skatepark in Greenhill, Weymouth.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were called at 3.45pm this afternoon following reports of a fire affecting electrical infrastructure, which subsequently spread to nearby trees and bushes.

Crews from Weymouth, Dorchester (two fire engines) and Bere Regis are currently at the scene tackling the blaze.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two hose reel jets and a main line to bring the fire under control.

Dorset Police have closed the road in the area while emergency services deal with the incident, and motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area if possible.

The fire service has confirmed the incident remains ongoing and that additional resources were requested approximately 30 minutes after the initial emergency call.

There have been no reports of any injuries at this stage.
