Man Dies Following Electric Scooter Collision in Bournemouth Town Centre
A man has very sadly died following a collision involving an electric scooter in Bournemouth town centre.
Dorset Police were called at 1.55am on Monday 5 January 2026 to reports of a collision on Old Christchurch Road, opposite the Popworld nightclub. The incident involved an electric scooter carrying two people.
The rider of the scooter, a man in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he very sadly died in hospital on the afternoon of Monday 12 January 2026. His family have been informed and are being supported.
The pillion passenger, a man in his 30s, suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said:
“Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the young man who sadly died following this incident.
“We are continuing to conduct enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please make contact with us.”
