Police Appeal Following Fatal Collision Near Wareham
Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Wareham are appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.42pm on Wednesday 18 February 2026 of a single-vehicle collision involving a black Volvo V70 on Morden Road.
Emergency services attended the scene; however, an 18-year-old male passenger was very sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.
The driver of the vehicle, a man aged in his 20s, and a male teenage passenger sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment, where they remain under medical care.
Road closures were implemented to allow emergency services to respond to the incident and for specialist officers to conduct a thorough examination of the scene.
Police Sergeant Josh Alner, of the Roads Policing Team, said:
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who very sadly died in this collision.
We are carrying out a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to please get in touch.
I would like to thank the public for their patience while the road closure was in place, which enabled us to safely examine the scene.”
Officers are continuing enquiries to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the incident or captured footage on dashcam in the area around the time.
