£150 Reward Offered as Family Appeals for Return of Beloved Toy Orangutan ‘Mango’

A desperate mother has offered a £150 reward in a heartfelt appeal to help reunite her nine-year-old daughter with her beloved toy orangutan, “Mango”, after he was lost at the Accident & Emergency Department of Dorchester Hospital.

Michelle shared an emotional Facebook post asking members of the public to check whether they may have seen or picked up the treasured toy after it was last seen on the drinks trolley in the triage waiting area on Friday 17 July.

She believes someone may have taken Mango for safekeeping or mistakenly assumed he had been left behind or was free to take home.

However, Michelle says Mango is far more than just a toy.

According to her post, Mango has been her daughter’s constant companion for several years and serves as her emotional support toy. Her daughter, who has ADHD and severe anxiety, takes Mango everywhere, including to counselling sessions, where he helps provide comfort and reassurance.

The family bought the toy during what Michelle describes as her daughter’s only holiday, to Hungary, where she fell in love with the baby orangutan plush in a zoo gift shop. Since then, Mango has become an irreplaceable part of her daily life.

Michelle said her daughter has struggled deeply since Mango disappeared.

She revealed that a recent counselling session focused entirely on the loss, with her daughter writing a heartfelt letter that read: *”Please come home Mango. I need you! Ps Come home soon, please, please.”*

The mother says her daughter has been left heartbroken, struggling to sleep and eat, and crying constantly. Even a visit to a toy shop failed to lift her spirits, as she refused a replacement because she fears Mango will never return if he is replaced.

In a bid to bring Mango home, Michelle has offered a **£150 reward**, explaining that the money had originally been saved for summer holiday activities with her daughter but that finding the treasured toy is now her priority.

She is urging anyone who may have taken Mango, or anyone who knows where he is, to come forward and help reunite her daughter with her favourite companion.
