Unauthorised music event near East Lulworth dispersed following police action
Officers from Dorset Police have successfully dispersed an unauthorised music event near East Lulworth following sustained and robust intervention.
The incident was first reported at approximately 11.45pm on Saturday 4 April 2026. It is believed that around 2,000 people attended the gathering, with more than 100 vehicles present in the surrounding area.
Police remained on-site throughout the night and into the following day, working continuously to ensure the event was brought to a safe and controlled conclusion. Officers took proactive enforcement action, including the seizure of sound equipment under Section 64 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
A total of 10 arrests were made in connection with the incident, with offences including driving under the influence and assaulting an emergency worker.
During the response, officers encountered a hostile environment and were subjected to missiles being thrown. Police have made it clear that violence toward emergency workers will not be tolerated, emphasising that such events pose serious safety risks and significant disruption to local communities.
Dorset Police extended their thanks to residents and visitors for their patience and understanding while operations were carried out. The force acknowledged the considerable impact the incident had on the local area and stated that action was taken as swiftly and proportionately as possible using available powers.
Support was provided by officers from multiple forces across the country, with police expressing gratitude for the coordinated effort that helped bring the situation to a safe resolution.
Enquiries remain ongoing, with officers now reviewing evidence gathered at the scene to identify any further offences. Police have reiterated that unlicensed music events will not be tolerated due to the risks they present and their impact on communities.
