Work Underway to Improve Access at Sandsfoot Gardens

Visitors to Sandsfoot Gardens may notice some activity this week as the Greenspaces Team begins improvement works aimed at making parts of the gardens easier and safer to access.

The team is currently repairing the steps and handrails that lead from the upper section of the gardens down towards the pond area. Alongside these repairs, new accessible ramps are being installed next to the steps. These ramps will help visitors using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs, and others who may find the steps difficult, to move more easily between the higher part of the gardens and the ornamental beds and fishpond below.

To ensure the upgrades blend in with the existing pathways, coping stones and slabs will be used to create a finish that matches the current look and character of the gardens.

The work is expected to take around 10 days to complete. During this period, access to some areas of the gardens will be limited while the improvements are carried out safely.

Thank you to everyone for your patience while these enhancements are made to one of Weymouth’s most loved green spaces.
