Did You Notice the Increased Police Presence Around All Saints Academy This Week? Here’s What We Know

Residents and parents in Weymouth may have noticed a heightened police presence around All Saints Academy earlier this week, prompting understandable concern and curiosity within the local community.

Both Dorset Police and the school have now issued statements to clarify the situation—and importantly, to reassure families that there is no ongoing threat.

Why Were Police at the School?

According to a statement from Dorset Police, officers were assisting in enquiries related to a missing person from outside the area who has previous links to Weymouth.

Police explained:

“Dorset Police is currently assisting with enquiries to locate a missing person from outside the force area with previous links to Weymouth.
At this time there is no direct evidence to confirm the individual is in the area, but enquiries remain ongoing.”

Because of those historical links, including a connection to All Saints Academy, officers were present on site as a precautionary measure only.

They emphasized:

“We would like to stress that this is purely a precaution and there are no reported current threats involving the school.”

School Response

In a message sent to parents, All Saints Academy confirmed that a small number of officers had been on site.

Headteacher Mrs Cullen reassured families that:

  • The police presence was limited and precautionary
  • It was linked to an ongoing missing person case
  • Officers have since advised that their presence is no longer required
  • The school remained open and operating normally throughout

She also thanked parents for their understanding and support during the situation.

What This Means for the Community

While any police activity around a school can understandably cause concern, both authorities and school leaders have made it clear that:

  • There was no direct evidence of risk to students or staff
  • The situation was handled proactively and cautiously
  • Communication between police and the school was ongoing and transparent

Incidents like this highlight how precautionary measures are sometimes taken even when no immediate danger is identified. In this case, both Dorset Police and All Saints Academy acted carefully to ensure safety while keeping disruption to a minimum.

For now, normality has resumed—and families can feel reassured by the clear message from both the school and police: there is no current threat.
