Appeal for Witnesses Following Reported Rape in Weymouth Town Cent
Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a reported rape in Weymouth town centre during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Officers received a report at 2.44am on Thursday, 18 June 2026, that a woman in her 20s had been raped in Clifton Place. The incident is reported to have occurred between 2am and 2.30am.
The victim is currently being supported by specially trained officers, and a full investigation has been launched by detectives from Dorset Police’s County CID.
A police cordon remains in place at the scene while extensive enquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector George Graham, of Dorset County CID, said:
“Officers are supporting the victim in this matter and we are carrying out extensive enquiries into the incident.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the relevant time period who witnessed any suspicious activity to please contact us.
“I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage, as well as residents with home CCTV or doorbell camera footage.
“There will be an increased police presence in the vicinity as we carry out enquiries and officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Clifton Place area between 2am and 2.30am and may have seen anything unusual or captured footage that could assist the investigation.
