Major Road Closures in Kinson Following Significant Water Leak

Motorists and residents are being urged to avoid parts of Wimborne Road in Kinson following a significant underground water leak that has caused major safety concerns.

Wimborne Road is currently closed between the Northbourne Roundabout and The Broadway, with an additional closure in place further along the road between Avebury Avenue and Pinewood Avenue.

The closures were implemented after the underground leak caused sections of the road surface and surrounding pavements to rise and become unstable, leaving them soft and unsafe for both pedestrians and vehicles.

Officials say the extent of the damage means the road is likely to remain closed for some time while emergency assessments and repair work are carried out.

Both BCP Council and Bournemouth Water have been informed of the incident, and engineers are understood to be en route to inspect the area and begin repairs.

Early indications suggest that a substantial section of the carriageway may need to be excavated in order to access and repair the damaged water infrastructure beneath the road.

Drivers are being advised to seek alternative routes and allow extra time for journeys, while residents and pedestrians are urged to stay clear of the affected areas for safety reasons.

Further updates are expected once engineers have completed their initial assessment and a clearer timescale for repairs has been established.
